The Viking sword, a development of the Roman spatha, evolved from the Migration Period sword in the 8th century and into the classical knightly sword in the 11th century with the emergence of larger cross-guards. Blade length varied from 71 to 84 centimeters, with early examples featuring a single, deep, wide fuller running the full length, while later examples had multiple narrow fullers. The fuller reduced the blade's weight without compromising its strength, allowing for faster and harder swings.

All Viking swords had short single-handed hilts with pyramid, lobed or cocked-hat style pommels made of heavier iron than the earlier Migration Period swords, acting to counterweight the blade. The world feared the Viking warriors, who were considered the favored of the gods, plundering new lands, raiding, and growing strong, living for battle and ready to die in glory.

Ragnar Lothbrok, the quintessential Norse warrior, is the protagonist of many mythical adventures, from fighting giant snakes to conquering vast swathes of Scandinavia and terrorizing the British Isles. His exploits, though largely legendary, have cast a long shadow over northern Europe during the Viking age and continue to captivate audiences through epic medieval poems, death songs, and the popular TV series Vikings.

Designed with inspiration from historic medieval styles, the Viking sword was one of the most useful offensive tools for a Viking warrior, typically meant for single-handed use with the other hand holding a shield. More than just a weapon of combat, the sword often indicated wealth and status.

This full-size Viking sword, perfect for costume parties, theatrical productions, Halloween celebrations, dress-up play, Renaissance festivals, LARP events, or historical reenactments, is made of high-quality PU foam with a realistic metal appearance. Measuring 41.3 inches in length, 4.3 inches in width, and 1.4 inches in height, weighing 0.99 pounds, the sword is an impressive ornament that will immediately attract the attention of your guests when placed in a corner of your home or office.
